Welcome to our IAAS Spring Online Conference.

Our first online conference last October 2020 was a great success! We had a varied selection of invited presentations from international experts in part 1 of the conference and free paper submissions a week later in part 2. The theme of ‘Patient Pathway changes due to COVID-19’ was clearly topical and useful. While COVID-19 remains far from controlled, there is hope for the future through mass vaccination programmes, and we feel another online conference for April 2021 would be appropriate. The theme on this occasion is ‘Strategically coming out of the COVID pandemic’ and as ever we have constructed an interesting programme of international speakers for Saturday April 10, with the free papers one week later.

Among the core objectives of the IAAS in the development of high quality ambulatory surgery worldwide is the promotion of education and training for surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and administrators. While we cannot as yet meet face to face and enjoy the company of like-minded enthusiasts, we can, at least, continue to offer education and knowledge to our members.

As before, we have chosen a Saturday to allow as many of our busy colleagues as possible to enjoy the programme, and we have selected 1pm UTC as the start time to keep the conference within reasonable social hours worldwide.
